THE WHITE PAPER IN SUMMARY:

The sun, its rays and their actions on our skin?

Beware of preconceived ideas: SPF 50 does not mean that the product protects you for 50 minutes!

SPF is a ratio of time with and without sun protection before sunburn appears. In other words, it will take us 50 times longer to get sunburned with SPF50 sunscreen than without it. We will then note that an SPF 30 product blocks 96.7% of UVB while an SPF 50+ blocks 98.3% of UVB 4.
There are 2 types of UV rays:

UVB = Burn - Immediate effect

UVA = Age - Long term effect

Sun filters: their origins, their benefits and their differences?

The light or covering white effect is essential with mineral filters, it is the very action of natural filters to create UV barriers.

Beware of preconceived ideas: mineral filters are good for the skin and the environment, while organic filters are bad for health and the environment. This is not necessarily true: the most dangerous poisons come from nature... The answer is not so simple!

Safety and environment

Solar products and their effectiveness are strictly regulated by European regulations. There are no environmental regulations in Europe.

Certain regions of the world have banned certain substances in order to preserve marine ecosystems: oxybenzone and octinoxate have been banned in Hawaii and the Virgin Islands since 2021 and 2020 respectively. Here are 2 filters to look for on ingredient lists and to avoid in your products.

Constant research into the impact of sunscreens on health implies an evolution of regulations. Octocrylene is now controversial and scientific studies are underway. As a precautionary principle SeventyOne Percent has excluded for 10 years in its formulas.

The strong points for choosing your solar product?

A pleasant formulation that makes you want to apply the product several times a day for optimal protection, reduced and eco-designed packaging, and a brand committed to nature with transparent communication for a conscious product choice.
